“The “2011 Fair Playing Field Act to protect American Workers Against Age discrimination”

January 12th, 2012

SIGN A PETITION  TO END  AGE DISCRIMINATION- SAVE-CREATE JOBS & THE AMERICAN DREAM!

“The “2011 Fair Playing Field Act to protect  American Workers Against Age discrimination” http://signon.org/sign/2011-fair-playing-field?

This petition is a crucial step in ending age discrimination in the work place and in America and convincing the United States Congress that such legislation is in the best interest of all of the American people and needed immediately  !

This petition addresses the core issue, that of age discrimination which drives many serious cyclical age and unemployment bias and unjust hiring practices.

It is our purpose to end age discrimination in the work place, from companies, employment and, staffing agencies regarding practices such as unemployed bias in job ads, the interview process, unemployed status, bad credit bias and  that toward extending unemployment benefits for those without work for more than six months.

Federal legislation is needed that would provide age discrimination protection to workers age  forty and older like that  provided for race, gender, national origin and religion in civil rights law.

It has come to a point where numerical standard mandated by Federal law is justified and legislation establishing such is put into law.

Such a law would mandate companies with 40 or more  employees  implement numerical, documented verification standards requiring that a set number (1 in 5) employees in their work force is comprised of individuals between the age of forty and sixty five years of age.

Special tax credits will be allowed to all companies who hire an individual who has been unemployed six months or more without prejudice to credit ratings or unemployment status.

The “2011 Fair Playing Field Act to protect All American Workers Against Age discrimination” Federal legislation establishing numerical standards mandated by Federal law is good for America , its workers, the economy, substantially decreases unemployment benefit costs and provides a fairer playing field for American workers throughout the duration of their work life-careers.

It restores jobs, dignity, human and civil equality and justice, liberty and affords Americans the  right and opportunity to work, provide for their families and to pursue the American dream.

2,500  SIGNATUTES REQUIRED TO PRESENT TO THE WHITE HOUSE! UNIFY  &  TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR OWN DESTINY & BE A PART OF HISTORY  !

Please show your support by signing and  sharing it with anyone that would dare to age in the American work place!  http://signon.org/s/HkT7QV

I am now 65 and agree even more than ever that age discrimination is alive and well in the USA EXCEPT for politics & the politicians we support !

Politicians get long term very high salaries, employment, retirement
,free benefits for life! How good can it get!
Yet it is called entitlement if American people expect the same after a life time of work & service!
    How do you say hypocrisy?

  6. Celeste says:

And the Republicans want to raise the retirement age
(looks like there may be some complicity on the part of the Democrats too, and we need to stop them).
If people over 55 are least likely to find another job once laid off, then raising the retirement age is certainly a form of genocide.

There’s no nicer way to say it. Celeste

And please help enforce this ! My experience has been that these agencies of enforcement end up siding with the money, ie companies, rather than those whom they are mandated to protect.

(EEOC, NLRB, OTHER ‘anti discrimination’ agencies. What happened to the NAACP! Have they forgotten the past-they have the power to help-we were there for them in affirmative action- education- where are they now?

  32. Jean says:

Employers increasingly behave as though “experience” counts for nothing. It is also cheaper to hire temps or part-timers without benefits. This corporate behavior devalues actual skills accumulated by older workers via experience over the years and too often leads to a decline in health via increased stress and inability to pay for health care, perhaps most especially among older employees. Even though we would hope that recent college graduates and veterans returning from war (among others) can find a job, harming the older worker is NOT the way to do this.

  42. Carolyn says:

THE OLDER WORKERS ALSO NEED TO HAVE THEIR UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS EXTENDED NOT VICIOUSLY CUT.

EVER SINCE AUGUST 2009 WHEN THOSE REPUBLICAN VERMIN VICIOUSLY SMASHED UP AND DESTROYED THE PRESIDENT’S TOWN HALL MEETINGS ON THE HEALTH CARE BILL AND THEY HAVE FULL BLOWN VICIOUSLY SMASHED UP AND DESTROYEB BETWEEN 2007 .

NOW MORE THAN FIFTY MILLION JOBS IN THIS NATION AND HAVE SEEN TO IT THAT THE OLDER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN FIRST OF ALL SLAMMED OUT OF THEIR JOBS, SLAMMED AWAY BY DISCRIMINATION WHEN THEY TRY TO APPLY FOR NEW JOBS AND NOW VICIOUSLY SLAMMED OUT OF GETTING THEIR MUCH NEEDED EXTENSION OF UNEMPLOYMENT–

WITH NO JOBS OR MONEY, SOON WE’LL BE LIVING IN THE STREETS. FORCED TO EAT FROM GARBAGE CANS ,THEN EAT EVEN RODENTS.

DIE BEFORE THEIR TIME BECAUSE OF LIVING CONDITIONS IN THE STREETS ,INABILITY TO AFFORD MEDICAL TREATMENT AND STARVATION .
THIS COUNTRY WILL SOON BE EXACTLY THE SAME THING
(GERMANY WAS IN 1938 BECAUSE OF THE COWARDLY WAY THE”DEMOCRATS” CAVE IN TO DEMANDS OF GREEDY PIGS LIKE
KARL ROVE AND THOSE WHO FOLLOW HIM INSTEAD OF HAVING THE DECENCY ,DIGNITY AND GUTS TO FIGHT BACK!

WE VOTED IN THE DEMOCRATS TO FIGHT FOR US–NOT TO TURN
INTO COWARDS AND BETRAY US .
SO WITH NO HELP OR DECENT FUTURE–WE WILL BECOME EXACTLY WHAT GERMANY WAS IN 1933-1945 . WILRYWARBEIN VERNAT A ORCEDTREE50ILL MILLION OLDER PEOPLE WHUJOB9ASEDED UA

  43. Marguerite says:

There are many corporations who practice age discrimination.
It may be the way your age betrays you in your appearance, or how they ask what year you graduated high school on their employment forms.
It is the loop holes they find that don’t outright ask for date of birth or age, but can find out in other ways.
Experience does not seem to mean anything to corporations.
They would rather invest in the young, inexperienced and spend millions of dollars in retraining them, than invest in experienced personnel whose work ethic is established and who know the work and culture that is already indoctrinated in their daily employ.

Stop age discrimination is the work place once and for all.

  46. Kay Anne says:

We must have age discrimination laws that really do protect us now that we are expected to work much longer.
They are taking away our social security benefits at 65 so how do they expect us to make a living ?With out jobs, social security or medicare ,guess it won’t matter. We won’t last long will we?

  50. Dan says:

The perception by far too many employers in today’s job market
is that if you have experience you will be more expensive to hire.
    This is untrue.
In most cases, those with little or no experience will be less productive and cost the employer more in terms of training and management.
The older worker can ‘hit the ground running’ with knowledge and proven techniques from years of real world experience.
There are proven advantages to buying a well-researched book, from which others can learn, versus a ‘blank slate’.
