About The Founder

Joan Freeman, Director

Joan is a former business owner, executive, manager, certified national recruiter, expert screener, organizer, team builder, trainer, career coach, image counselor, motivator, speaker and in client development. Client base includes professionals in finance, mortgage lenders, investment bankers, accounting, technical, oil, gas, and engineering.

Her twenty seven years of experience include start ups, organizing and managing professional recruiting firms and contract /temp divisions in California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada that exclusively serviced mortgage, banking, finance and investment firms across the nation. The demise of these financial institutes ultimately resulted in the branches and company closing.

 Inspired To Take Action

Joan has been down the same paths that so many American’s have gone down; business, financial, and personal lose. It was during this time in her life that she became inspired to take action . With the encouragement and help of family, friends and colleagues a plan emerged, and Gray Matters Coalition came into being.

 Taking On the Challenge

Early in Joan’s career, she became aware of the injustices and problems facing older workers. She made it a point to go the extra mile in helping these individuals to find jobs ;including critiquing resumes, career coaching, interview prep, image counseling and identifying experience, qualifications, knowledge, abilities unique to job specifications.

Now, she is taking on the challenge of bringing Americans together, organize and become a powerful political voice in shaping laws and policies for employment reform to more fully protect the rights of older workers and address ageism injustices. In so doing, create a more level playing field; restore jobs, dignity and the opportunity to maintain the financial futures they have worked for and deserve.

    Joan and Maggie,
Email me please. I am interested in following your Movement. I am convinced that the Baby Boomers can have a rather influential voice in this country,(Paul Hodge, Harvard, ‘Baby Boomers: Survival or not?’) simply my the numbers of us who could yet vote in the next election.

Many of us were disenfranchised. Indeed, I can understand the need for the United States to recognize the CEDAW, in this country. The Universal Declaration of Engineers used it in forming their Society of Engineers, given an Oath toward “Public Safety” and “Public Health”. The CEDAW, also, is a need for women to be recognized, allowed Higher Education formerly denied in Washington State through a USDOL Grant given to Technical schools(2007). Washington State created a “Digital Divide”, and has yet to recognize females as being of valuable Human Potential, as social force toward International Human Rights. You are in my prayers, too.

the voices against age discrimination and slamming older peopl e into early graves by first destroying their jobs, making it impossible for them to get new jobs and then making decent healthcare unaffordable to them so they will die younger than they have to if they get sick and making rents unaffordable for them so they will end up homeless which will also shorten their lives is horrible===it amounts to REAL DEATH PANELS FOR OLDER PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
